Movie Review: Despicable Me

Despicable Me

In Despicable Me, Gru is an aging villain who is trying to compete with other younger villains by trying to steal the moon. Steve Carell (The Office) plays the voice of our “hero” in this story about a man’s struggle to find validation from the world around him. His competition is young upstart, Vector. Vector has all the advantages. He has money, technology and has already pulled off a huge robbery. He is played by Jason Segel (Marshall on How I Met Your Mother) and is one of the more nerdy villains I’ve seen.

In Gru’s attempt to steal the moon, he adopts three young orphaned girls. Without ruining all of it, just understand there’s quite a change of heart afoot! The minions, the little, yellow one or two-eyed cuties are easily the comical life of the movie! Their stunts and behavior is just outstanding. I don’t know how strong of a movie it would have been without them.

It’s a fun movie. Pretty well written and enjoyable to watch. My only irk is that most of the funny parts are in the previews that we’ve seen for the past year.  My final rating: 4 close-squiggly brackets out of 5 } } } }.

I have seen cats do some amazing tricks on America’s Got Talent’ and in some circuses that has been featured on TV. So they are capable of being trained, it just depends on the cat and the owner!
