Huddle up, team!! Here’s the skinny… What we gotta do is get out there and tear it up! I mean really rip ‘em to shreds!
<<ahem>> What I was trying to say a little theatrically was that I created a separate blog for all the XRT-FM related posts. It’s HERE. It felt like the natural thing to do, especially with all the 2.0 stuff going on. I think it really brings a better focus on my posting and your reading. If there are huge announcements, I will most likely post a small note here too.
Thanks,
-Timmy

Hi all! I am sitting in my cubicle at NovaRad (yes that R is caps!). So far, it feels pretty mellow. I’ve been training and shadowing a lot. I hope to get moving quickly. A lot of my training is based upon me installing the tools on my own system. It’s been challenging but isn’t that what makes it good? I will let you all know more when I know more!
A few notes:
- Rachel was turned down by both jobs.
- We might be planning a trip to Las Vegas.
- I posted Wyatt’s latest camera card full of pictures, click on the picture on the right.
- I got a 1 terabyte external drive that promises much to the progression of XRT-FM!
- We put Wyatt on a new disciplinary plan (will explain later)
- I’d like to broadcast live this weekend… (will let you know)
- I love my family!

Yes, folks… As crazy as that sounds, Salt Lake City has ANOTHER country station! Don’t get me wrong, I love country music, but how much is too much? Let’s run it down for you… To my knowledge, here are the country stations in the Salt Lake City/Ogden/Provo radio market:
- K-Bull 93.3 - KUBL
- 101.5 The Eagle - KEGA
- 104.3 The Cowboy - KSOP-FM
- MyCountry 105.7 - KXRV (new)
- Country Legends 107.5 - KKAT
- Gold Country 1370 - KSOP-AM
This is just silly. To give you some perspective, radio stations are part of radio markets that are designated by their major metropolitan areas. The SLC market is ranked #31. Arbitron, the radio ratings company, shows the population as about 1.6 million people that could be listening to the radio. New York City is ranked #1 with just over 15 million listeners. I explain this to you so you can grasp when something doesn’t make any sense. In New York and Los Angeles (#2), there are no country stations. In most of the top-30 markets there is usually only 1 and maybe 2 country stations at all. Now Salt Lake city has enough country stations for the rest of the top 10 markets!
I know I am a radio geek and love learning about how the industry works, so if you are entirely bored by this post, that’s totally understood. Some of you must find this interesting and have opinions. Share them! Leave a comment!
