Here it is almost dead-center of January! It’s like the time has no consideration for anything. You’d think at the beginning of a new year, time would slow down a bit to allow us a little time to reflect and savor the feeling. BUT NO!! Time just floats by same as always, relentless. Just like you’d hope time around a holiday or a birthday or some big event or trip, you’d wish time would relax just a bit. Of course, it does not and we have to run sometimes to keep up.

Days, months and years just tick by like clouds in the sky, like songs on the radio, like the second-hand swipes by on a clock…

Interesting to consider that depending on what’s going on time can really feel like it’s just rocketing past you or slower than the snow and rain erodes a mountain side. I found that most times when time goes too fast is looking back on things. When I served my two-year full-time LDS Mission in Florida I look back at that time as it was just a brief instant. While I was in Florida, there were times that I would just explode waiting for the next hour to go by. I still feel that way at times at work or the dentist!

Quick Movie Review: Indiana Jones

Rachel, Wyatt and I went to see Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull this past Saturday, 5/24. We were entirely entertained! It was a great movie and really fell in line with the other installments. There was a lot more humor and old guy jokes. Harrison Ford reprised the lead role as Indy; Transformers star Shia LaBeouf took the role of the young sidekick, Mutt; and a surprise return of a co-star from Raiders, Karen Allen as Marion Ravenwood. Each episode has a main gross-out factor: Raiders has snakes, Doom has huge insects, Crusade has rats and Skull has ants… the size of a grown man’s thumb! Without being too detailed and putting up any spoilers, I will say my only complaint is that there is a major element of this film that strays way out of the typical archeological realm of previous Indys. I won’t say what that element is, but once you see it, I think you will agree. Overall, this is an excellent film and even Wyatt had a great time watching!

My rating of random characters is 4 out of 5 carats: ^^^^

1994 Unaired Pilot Episode ’24′

The folks at a reputable website dug up this secret, unaired pilot episode of the hit show 24. It looks like the show has been trying to get on the air much, much earlier than in 2001 on Fox. There are different actors as Kiefer Sutherland and other key players were not available in the mid 90′s for a TV series. Please watch the video below from YouTube. You will not be disappointed!

House, MD: 10/2 Episode

Last night, on House, MD (Fox), Dr. House was slimming down his selection of fellows-to-be and one of them was casted as a black member of the LDS Church. House questioned his faith and tested his beliefs about the Word of Wisdom. Basically, it came down to this student was a non-drinker and for some diagnostic testing, House needed to know how quickly he would show signs of getting intoxicated. This character did a good job of refusing until House challenged him with “every life is sacred” and then, the student relented and agreed to participate.

My wife and I were watching this and got a bit nervous during this scene. We were hoping it would come out as a positive and while not being entirely negative, it showed the guy compromising his beliefs after being challenged and given a “good reason”.

Without getting too much more into personal beliefs, how did you that saw this feel about the alleged exposure this very popular TV drama brought to the Church?

**UPDATE!** Rachel just won a pair of great tickets to the Billy Joel concert in SLC this November!! Crazy!

Rachel, for some reason, is incredibly lucky when it comes to winning radio station contests! She just won the first 3 seasons of Numb3rs on DVD from local country station, K-Bull 93. She was the right caller for their nightly on-air survey called the “Buck-off”. Recently, she’s also won 4 tickets to Country Jam in Colorado. It’s pretty crazy.

**Here’s a quick note: when stations have a “be caller 93″ type contest, I’d bet my left (fill in the blank) that they are not really taking all 93 callers.

I’m excited since Numb3rs is one of our favorite TV shows right now. Check it out sometime.
